1-Wire - Cable & Wireing
Model: Dynamix C-SFTP-SOL R BK
Details:
Black Colour SOLID SFTP 305M Cable in Pull Box
Cat 5E Enhanced Shielded Foil Twisted Pair Cable (SFTP) 24 AWG, 350MHz.
Verified for Gigabit Ethernet.
UV Rated Jacket for External Use.
The UV Jacket is the main reason why we chose this cable because it can be used outdoors.
Any normal Network Patch cable would not likely last any longer than a year in New Zealand's climate.
The cable also needed to be strong so that's what the two layers of shielding help.
Any long lengths of the cable run have been grounded to reduce the noise that could be picked up.
Cable:

The 1-Wire Pin out:
Use this image as if looking at the RJ-45 Connector on the end of a Cable with the tab behind.

Distribution:
To easily plug in the individual sensors I have used RJ-45 wall sockets to make life easier.
It also makes is easy to isolate a faulty sensor or to do other diagnostics.
One panel is in the loft and the other outdoors under a deck for the outside garden sensors.
When using this method, the cables need to be kept as short as possible when they are in a star network.
Generally I have kept the cables less the 1m.
